This construction of a HIV particle was formed after a team at Visual Science consulted 100 articles on HIV from science journals and then reconstructed the proteins from X-rays.
The impressive images, which remind me a little of Mandelbrot’s fractals, are a great way to visualise something so small yet impacts so much around the world.
